Picking the ball up about 30 metres from goal, the Pakhtakor captain rifled the ball into Qasem Burhan's top corner to give his side the lead. It was an advantage they were to embellish towards the end of the game, through their most well known player Server Djeparov, once the recipient of Asia football's highest individual honour - the 2008 player of the year award.

Should Ahmedov continue along his expected career trajectory, he could follow the footsteps of his national team colleague into the consciousness of football fans across the continent.

The 23-year-old Ahmedov has been utilised in his side's opening two matches as a central defender due to an injury crisis despite his favoured position being in central midfield. The versatile right-footer claims that he is satisfied to take a step back on the field in order to facilitate his national team take two steps forward.

Under Vadim Abramov Uzbekistan are a competitive outfit and there is belief within the camp that the White Wolves can make waves at this year's edition of the AFC's showpiece tournament.

The coach told the-afc.com this week, “This is a big tournament, who wins this tournament is the best team. Every team at this tournament is very strong and I hope the quality of the football does not get less.

"I think we can cause some surprises and I hope Uzbekistan will be champion in this tournament, but there are many other good teams here so it will be difficult, but I hope it will be Uzbekistan.”

To progress and compete alongside the likes of South Korea, Japan and Australia, Uzbekistan will look to their recognised players Djeparov and Maxim Shatskikh as well as emerging talent like Ahmedov. The player who has his admirers in Russia's Premier League has, like his national team, been steadily improving over the past few seasons.

He came to prominence on the club scene last April when his hat-trick helped decide an Asian Champions League group encounter against Al Ain. Pakhtakor's continental adventure was curtailed at the last 16 stage but Ahmedov had done enough to alert clubs on the Old Continent to his talent. A tall player with fine technical capabilities, Ahmedov makes his biggest impact coming from a deep midfield position to supplement his teams' attack. Uzbekistan face China on matchday three of the Asian Cup with their place in the knockout round all but guaranteed. A strong showing in this competition and Ahmedov may be on his way to Europe.

walpaper hphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11165856595280727395noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2870344217672541905.post-41442168654571439192011-04-07T21:23:00.000-07:002011-04-07T21:23:30.564-07:00Edin Dzeko

Man City

Much in the same way as Usain Bolt, Lukaku is set apart by his incredible physical attributes. Standing 1.92 metre tall and weighing 94 kg, the Antwerp-born striker is more than capable of making his presence felt even when not getting his name on the scoresheet.

He came through the ranks initially at FC Brussels before moving to their more illustrious city rivals Anderlecht. In youth football he averaged a goal a game and indeed bettered that ratio playing for RSCA’s reserve team. He is the most notable graduate from the Purple Talent programme run by the club in order to nurture the very best youngsters and prepare them for a first-team future. Having been likened to Didier Drogba, he is a genuine all round striker with pace, two good feet, aerial prowess and a killer instinct inside the penalty box.

His debut for RSCA came in the play-off defeat to Standard Liege. His first goal in the regular league competition came in Waregem against Zulte in August when he diverted home a Boussoufa cross from the left hand side. It was the start of what has been a deadly combination for the Paars-wit this season as Lukaku’s movement and aerial prowess allow him to make the most of the winger’s dangerous delivery. Not only was his debut no mere flash in the pan but he currently stands as the topscorer in the Jupiler Pro League with 13 strikes and a goal-to-game ratio better than anyone with six goals or more. He has also had a sizeable impact on the European stage with a vital double in Anderlecht’s away win against Ajax to send RSCA through to the knockout stages and then the crucial opening goal in the second leg of the last 32 tie against Athletic Bilbao.

Romelu towers over his team-mate

His country’s saviour

Romelu’s exploits in the league did not go unnoticed and soon the talk began to turn to whether he would be called up to play for the Belgian national team. The clamour was that bit greater as Belgium had been crying out for a top class striker to spearhead their emerging side as Dick Advocaat attempts to plot a return to the glory days of Belgian football when qualification for major tournaments was a regular occurrence.

After much debate between fans and former players alike, he was handed his debut against Croatia as a starting striker with Eden Hazard and Moussa Dembele wide of him. Though he did not get on the scoresheet, he linked up well with the other attackers showing good awareness and positional play. In one move he released Lille’s playmaker Hazard and furthermore had himself a couple of half-chances – firstly just over-running the ball after his touch had taken it between the two opposition centre-backs and secondly firing over with his left foot from a tight angle.

On the whole it was an encouraging debut and he certainly showed he belongs in the Belgian national side. His rival for the striker’s spot for both Anderlecht and Belgium, Tom de Sutter recently admitted that he can have no complaints that his younger compatriot is ahead of him in the pecking order in the eyes of Ariel Jacobs and Advocaat. Belgium will be looking for him to carry the hopes of a nation in the same way footballing luminaries such as Luc Nilis and Marc Wilmots have been in the past.

Managing expectations

As mentioned with regards to a national call up Lukaku has a lot of weight on his admittedly very broad shoulders. However his feet are kept on the ground by his father, Roger Lukaku, himself a former professional footballer.

The competition in Anderlecht’s squad upfront provided by the likes of De Sutter, Nicolas Frutos, Kanu and Matias Suarez afford Jacobs the luxury of removing Lukaku from the limelight when deemed appropriate. Anderlecht have stated their intention to keep him in Brussels until he is 19 though Les Mauves will have their hands full warding off interest from Europe's superpowers such as Real Madrid and Barcelona while Chelsea’s interest has also been prominent. Reassuringly, Romelu has a mature personality often absent from seasoned professionals and realises that he still has a lot to learn. Furthermore he comes across well in interviews and the signs are he will avoid the pitfalls suffered by many other young superstars.

A year ago Europe’s top clubs were prepared to fork out €1.5 million. One shudders to think what Anderlecht could demand as Lukaku develops still further. He may even become the poster-boy should Belgium win the right to host the 2018 World Cup. One thing is for sure, we’ll be hearing a lot more of this young prodigy in the years to come.
walpaper hphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11165856595280727395noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2870344217672541905.post-28053565964395718982011-04-07T21:19:00.000-07:002011-04-07T21:19:28.077-07:00Robin Van Persie

Robin Van Persie

Goal.com World Player of the Week #55: Robin van Persie
Club: Arsenal
Country: The Netherlands
Age: 26
Role: Forward
Castrol Ranking: 90
Achievement: Electric form in pre-World Cup friendlies
Injuries to key players have blighted the run-up to the 2010 World Cup; a good deal of the contending teams are reeling from the losses and potential losses of their performers. The Netherlands have not been spared that anxiety. On Saturday against Hungary at the Amsterdam ArenA, Arjen Robben hobbled off with a hamstring strain that could yet limit his participation in South Africa.

But Bert van Marwijk has at least one reason to be cheerful on the injury front - the return of Robin van Persie. The Arsenal forward barely had time to re-align his season at club level before he was thrust into the rigours of the international arena following a mid-term injury suffered against Italy. However, the 26-year-old is back with a bang.

He followed his double salvo against Mexico with goals against Ghana in midweek and Hungary at the weekend. And not only in finding the net is Van Persie proving his worth.

The former Feyenoord stand-out is proving to be the front-man that the Dutch need in order to link the intricate play of the likes of Wesley Sneijder, Robben and Rafael van der Vaart together.

Holland's No. 9 is in scintillating form and should he remain fit, the Dutch have a great chance of succeeding in South Africa.

Club Borussia Dortmund
Nationality Germany
Age 18

The BvB starlet just turned 18 and has been heralded by some as the best player in the world in his age group. At the club since 2001, Goetze made his debut last winter in the Bundesliga but is expected to push Kuba for a place in Juergen Klopp's starting line-up this season. Goetze has a wide array of dribbling skills and trickery and showed Manchester City that money is not everything by providing two fine assists in his side's 3-1 friendly win on Wednesday. Another young German playmaker in the tradition of Toni Kroos, Marko Marin and Mesut Oezil, Goetze willgive the youth-promoting Joachim Loew selection difficulties if his potential comes to fruition before 2012.

Dani Pacheco

Club Liverpool
Nationality Spain
Age 19

Spain's run to the final of this summer's UEFA European Under-19 Championships was thanks, in no small part, to the exquisite form in front of goal of Dani Pacheco. The former Barcelona cantera product primiarily worked the left-side of la Rojita's attack and weighed in with four goals, becoming the top scorer in the process. He also contributed a wonderful through pass for Rodrigo to put the Spaniards ahead in the final against France. Pacheco is a pacy, technically adept attacker with a fearsome strike and good approach play around the opposition area with lightening quick dribbling capabilities.

James Rodriguez

Club FC Porto
Nationality Colombia
Age 19

'James Bond' has a style to match Cristiano Ronaldo and now plies his trade in the same league in which 'CR7' first took his steps onto the world stage. Porto acquired 70 per cent of his playing rights this summer, for a fee of around €5m, and immediately inserted a €30m buyout clause into his contract. The Dragons have a reputation for nurturing South American talent in Europe and Rodriguez could be set for a career at the highest level. The attacker helped former club Banfield to their first ever Argentinian title, the 2009 Apertura, and later flickered in the Copa Libertadores, scoring five times. Rodriguez can do damage on either side of the attack and can also pop up at key times in the box. Physically, he can look after himself too.

Phil Jones

Club Blackburn Rovers
Nationality England
Age 19

The Lancashire native was excluded from the England under-19s for the recent tournament as he is now viewed as an under-21 star in the making. Senior honours are surely not beyond the realm of possibility either. He made his Premier League debut at the tail end of last season against no lesser opposition than Chelsea and impressed his manager Sam Allardyce with his physically imposing style and burgeoning ability. 'Indiana' Jones has already earned comparisions with the Chelsea captain, John Terry, and could push for a starting berth at Ewood Park this term.

Gael Kakuta

Club Chelsea
Nationality France
Age 19

Many thousand words were written about the former RC Lens prospect before he had even kicked a ball in anger, such was the effect his 2007 move to Chelsea had on English football. However, the midfielder looks likely to prove the Pensioners were justified in their pursuit, legal or not, of one of France's greatest emerging talents. This summer gave Kakuta a chance to strut his stuff in front of an international audience, at the under-19 tournament, and he helped les Bleuets to the title with a series of mesmerising performances. He often looked like he was playing in an age group below his own; proving too fast, too strong and too intelligent for a whole host of his opponents. Kakuta is naturally gifted in the playmaker position but is also effective when stationed on either side of a forward; such adaptability will stand him in good stead at Stamford Bridge.
The Korean youth international has been tipped as one of the Bundesliga's top 10 emerging talents for the season but HSV will have to make do without his services for the best part of two months. Son appeared as a late substitute during the pre-season win over Chelsea but sustained a metatarsal injury minutes from the end of proceedings. The forward, nicknamed 'Rocket', has impressed coach Armin Veh in the build-up to the 2010-11 campaign having been on the books of the club since 2008. Son is capable of coming from deep or from wide positions to cause destruction and is adaptable enough to find a spot in Hamburg's first team, fitness permitting.
Club Barcelona
Country Spain
Age 19

The son of the 1994 Brazilian World Cup winner Mazinho has been at the Barcelona academy since 2004 and has already featured intermittently for the Barca first team. He scored against Racing last February in a 4-0 win. Thiago, as his shirt reads, has a style redolent of Deco in his Porto days with bravery and steel which belies his relatively small stature. He uses the ball quickly and efficiently and his keen sense of positioning means he is never far from the heart of the action. The Bari-born midfielder carries a deceptively quick shot and a subtle creative touch. His assist for Sergio Canales against England in the European under-19 semi-final was exquisite. Along with international colleague Oriol Romeu, Thiago can expect some first-team duties at Camp Nou this coming campaign.

Abel Hernandez
Club Palermo
Nationality Uruguay
Age 19

Possessed of searing pace and the build of a middleweight boxer, 'la Joya' is, perhaps, the primary reason why Palermo allowed Edinson Cavani to move onto Napoli this summer. And with Fabrizio Miccoli's fitness a corcern, the former Penarol player can expect more first team action this season. He is no stranger to first team duties having joined in February 2009 and has played close to 30 first-team matches since. Hernandez scored goals against both Inter and Milan last season as well as firing in a memorable brace against Fiorentina. In all he scored seven Serie A strikes, at a rate of one every 120 minutes. Turns 20 next week.

Age 17

The 2010 Russian Premier League season is in full swing but 'Jano' could alert the world to his potential in the upcoming 2010-11 Champions League campaign. The Georgian teenager was used sparingly during the 2009 season but is rapidly becoming a key first-team player for The Meat this term, in spite of their on-field difficulties. Standing barely 1.72m and with the frame of a gymnast, 'Jano' has some problems holding off more agricultural opponents. However, with the ball at his feet, there can be no denying his passing capabilities and vision. He laid to rest rumours that he was considering a switch of international allegiance to Russia last summer by declaring for Georgia. Juventus, Milan, Sevilla and Arsenal have all kept tabs on Jano since he first broke into Spartak's first-team ranks.

Philippe Coutinho
Club Inter
Nationality Brazil
Age 18

The Rio de Janeiro native has been described as 'the future of Inter', having been signed by the Italian club in 2008. Coutinho has spent two years in his homeland on loan at Vasco de Gama, where he has steadily increased his reputation as a teenage prodigy. Standing only 1.72m, the Vasco academy graduate is nonetheless sturdy on his feet and is possessed of solid balance. One of his greatest atrributes is his two-footedness; Coutinho's opponents have no idea whether he will go left or right and he is equally comfortable delivering shots off either side too. He cost i Biscione a sum in the region of €4m in 2008; he is worth many times more now after featuring in Rafael Benitez's pre-season plans. He scored his first goal for the club, a volley, in the 3-2 defeat to Panathinaikos earlier this week. With the expected departure of Mario Balotelli, Coutinho could well find himself thrust in at the deep end this term.
walpaper hphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11165856595280727395noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2870344217672541905.post-74219809919345030772011-03-28T20:38:00.000-07:002011-03-28T20:38:37.726-07:00Player Profile: Lukas Podolski

Lukas Podolski is a forward for Germany’s national soccer team, also playing with FC Cologne in the Bundesliga. The 5-foot, 11-inch Podolski was named by FIFA as “Best Young Player” at the 2006 World Cup and was the second highest goalscorer for Germany during qualifying play for the 2010 World Cup.
Born in Poland but raised in Germany, Lukas Podolski started early, playing for the youth club of FC Bergheim at 6, and moving to FC Cologne (FC Köln) when he was 10. It was at FC Cologne that he first emerged into the limelight, scoring 10 goals in his first 19 senior appearances, the best tally by an 18 year old in the history of the Bundesliga. The following season, Podolski scored over 20 goals to lead Cologne to promotion to the Bundesliga, but the club was again sent down a level after the 2005-06 campaign.
Bayern Munich then signed Podolski for a reported $10 million transfer fee in the summer of 2006, and he made his debut in an August 2006 Bundesliga match against Borussia Dortmund. An ankle injury that year forced Podolski to the sidelines for a portion of his initial season in Munich, while additional player acquisitions at the forward position would limit Podolski’s time on the pitch for Bayern in following seasons.
Because of the lack of playing time, Podolski decided to returned to his former club FC Cologne in July 2009.
Eventually, Podolski was won over by the German side, and since his inclusion in the starting line-up for the German Euro 2004 team, he has proven himself to be an indispensable player.
Paired with Miroslav Klose for the 2006 World Cup, Podolski netted 3 goals in his first World Cup appearance, his impressive tally tying with football greats such as Ronaldo and Thierry Henry. It also earned him the FIFA honor of “Best Young Player” (over such players as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi) at that World Cup.
At the 2008 Euros, Podolski scored three goals to help lead Germany all the way to the final game, a 1-0 loss to Spain.
Podolski continued to score goals for his international team in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup, putting six into the nets in his nine appearances for Germany, which took top spot in Europe’s Group Four to qualify for the World Cup in South Africa.

Kaká added the Champions League title to his trophy case for the first time when Milan defeated Liverpool on 23 May 2007. Though he went scoreless, he won a free kick that led to the first of Filippo Inzaghi's two goals, and provided the assist for the second. For his stellar play throughout the competition, he was voted the Vodafone Fans' Player of the Season in a poll of over 100,000 UEFA.com visitors. On 30 August, Kaká was named by UEFA as both the top forward of the 2006–07 Champions League season and UEFA Club Footballer of the Year.[11]

He played his 200th career match with Milan in a 1–1 home draw with Catania on 30 September, and on 5 October, he was named the 2006–07 FIFPro World Player of the Year. On 2 December 2007, Kaká became the eighth Milan player to win the Ballon d'Or, as he finished with a decisive 444 votes, long ahead of runner-up Cristiano Ronaldo.[12] He signed a contract extension through 2013 with Milan on February 29, 2008.[13]

Due to his contributions on and off the pitch, Time magazine named Kaká in the Time 100, a list of the world's 100 most influential people, on 2 May.[14] On 14 October, he cast his footprints into the Estádio do Maracanã's sidewalk of fame, in a section dedicated to the memory of the country's top players.[15] He won the honor again in 2009.[16]

The BBC reported on 13 January 2009 that Manchester City made a bid for Kaká for over £100 million. Milan director Umberto Gandini replied that Milan would only discuss the matter if Kaká and Manchester City agreed to personal terms.[17] Kaká initially responded by telling reporters he wanted to "grow old" at Milan and dreamed of captaining the club one day, but later said, "If Milan want to sell me, I’ll sit down and talk. I can say that as long as the club don’t want to sell me, I'll definitely stay."[18] On 19 January, Silvio Berlusconi announced that Manchester City had officially ended their bid after a discussion between the clubs, and that Kaká would remain with Milan.[19] Milan supporters had protested outside the club headquarters earlier that evening, and later chanted outside Kaká's home, where he saluted them by flashing his jersey outside a window.[20]
walpaper hphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11165856595280727395noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2870344217672541905.post-65757634154794940942011-03-28T20:23:00.000-07:002011-03-28T20:23:10.973-07:00kaka

Real Madrid
On 3 June 2009, Football Italia reported that newly-elected Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez had offered Milan a ₤68.5 million deal for Kaká,[21] two days after the player had left for international duty with Brazil.[22] Milan vice president Adriano Galliani did not deny the reports, and confirmed that he and Kaká's father, Bosco Leite, had traveled to Mexico to meet with La Volpe. "We had lunch and spoke about Kaká. I don't deny it. Negotiations exist, but a deal has yet to be done."[23] On 4 June, Galliani told Gazzetta dello Sport that financial reasons were his motive for the talks with La Volpe. "We cannot allow [Milan] to lose €70 million [...] The reasons behind Kaká's departure would be economic."[23] On 8 June, Milan and Real Madrid confirmed Kaká has moved to the Bernabéu on a six-year deal.[24]

Kaká made his unofficial debut in a friendly against Toronto FC, and scored his first goal for Madrid during a preseason match against Borussia Dortmund, which Madrid won 5-0.[25] He scored his first official goal for Real Madrid on week 5 against Villareal from a penalty kick.

International career
Kaká with Brazil

Kaká was called up for the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship, but the Brazilians crashed out to Ghana in the quarter-finals. Several months later, he made his debut for the senior Brazil squad in a friendly match against Bolivia on 31 January 2002. He was part of the 2002 FIFA World Cup-winning squad, but played only 25 minutes,[26] all of which were in the first round match against Costa Rica.

In 2003, Kaká was the captain for the 2003 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament, where Brazil, competing as with their under-23 team, finished as runner-up to Mexico. He scored three goals during the tournament. He was included in Brazil's squad for 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup in Germany. He appeared in all five matches and scored one goal in a 4–1 win over Argentina in the final.

Kaká started in his first FIFA World Cup finals in 2006 and scored his first and only goal of the tournament in Brazil's 1–0 victory over Croatia in Brazil's opener, for which he was named Man of the Match.[27] He was unable to keep up the momentum for the remainder of the tournament, as Brazil was eliminated by France in the quarter-finals. In a friendly against rivals Argentina on 3 September 2006, after entering as a substitute, he received the ball off a deflection from an Argentina corner kick and outran Lionel Messi while taking the ball down three quarters of the field to score.[28]

On 12 May 2007, citing an exhaustive schedule of Serie A, Champions League, and national team play, Kaká bowed out of the 2007 Copa América, which Brazil won.[29] After missing out on the Copa América, he returned to play in Brazil's friendly match against Algeria on 22 August 2007.

Kaká participated in the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, marking his first international tournament since the 2006 World Cup. His only two goals came in Brazil's group stage opener against Egypt on 14 June, when he scored a goal in the fifth minute and then added a 90th-minute penalty in Brazil's 4–3 victory.[30] He received the Golden Ball as the player of the tournament at the Confederations Cup and was also named the Man of the Match in the final after helping Brazil to a 3-2 win against the United States.
walpaper hphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11165856595280727395noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2870344217672541905.post-37512053227179435992011-03-28T20:21:00.000-07:002011-03-28T20:21:22.599-07:00Profile Andrea Pirlo

Nama Lengkap : Andrea Pirlo

Spain are the current reigning World and European champions, having won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the 2008 UEFA European Football Championship. Spain also won the 1964 European Nations' Cup and reached the UEFA Euro 1984 Final. In July 2008 Spain rose to the top of the FIFA World Rankings for the first time in the team's history, becoming the sixth nation to top this ranking, and the first nation to top the ranking without previously having won the World Cup. Between November 2006 and June 2009 Spain went undefeated for a record-tying 35 consecutive matches before their loss to the United States, a record shared with Brazil, including a record 15-game winning streak and thus earning third place in the FIFA Confederations Cup. Recently, the team has become known for using a style of play which involves roaming movement and positional interchange amongst midfielders, moving the ball in intricate patterns, and sharp, one- or two-touch passing; this style of play has been dubbed Tiki-taka (or Tiqui-taca), which is also associated with FC Barcelona.
walpaper hphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11165856595280727395noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2870344217672541905.post-10863709380066037582011-03-24T21:36:00.000-07:002011-03-24T21:36:40.993-07:00fred lampard

This fixture will inevitably bring back memories of the last time we paid a visit to Denmark. England swaggered into that match and came out of it humiliated. This time, we have an England team with considerably less confidence. To contrast our recent poor form, Denmark has been doing well having, a record of W-2 D-2 L-1 since going out of the World Cup before the Round of 16 last summer. While they were not very successful in the World Cup, they showed they can play some decent football.

You can play 5-minute fantasy rounds during the Denmark v. England match with our Picklive fantasy game
There are some very recognizable names in this Danish squad, the most obvious being Arsenal’s Nicklas Bendtner, although Anders Lindegaard, Lars Jacobsen, Daniel Agger, and Christian Poulsen all also play in the Premiership. Bendtner will be the one to watch, because in spite of often finding himself on the bench, he can prove quite dangerous.
Meanwhile, his teammate Jack Wilshere looks to be starting for England after Capello said “In the last two months, he has improved a lot with his confidence” about the young player. He will probably feature a little deeper in the midfield, after Wenger endorsed him in that position. Capello has been given a bit of a selection headache, having to alter his squad after four players (Steven Gerrard. Ben Foster, Peter Crouch and Gabriel Agbonlahor) withdrew due to fitness and personal reasons. This means that Rob Green and Carlton Cole find themselves included after all. It also means that Frank Lampard will be wearing the armband for the first time. Darren Bent is expected to join Rooney up front.
I’m not overly optimistic about this match. After sailing through qualifiers for the World Cup, England has looked a bit of a mess. Something, some confidence and connections between the players, has gone. This is our last friendly before Euro qualifiers start up again, so let’s hope we find it again.
walpaper hphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11165856595280727395noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2870344217672541905.post-36790870689458658742011-03-24T21:35:00.002-07:002011-03-24T21:35:41.636-07:00Football, is not coming home. The 2018 World Cup will be held in Russia.

We haven’t covered the bidding process that much here at WCB, mainly because its been a bit boring, despite the English Press best efforts. I’m more dissapointed than I thought I’d be to be honest, but on the other hand, I do think Russia will be put on a good show and good for them. They are a growing football nation, and at least they have an interest and history in it.
The 2022 World Cup (which we weren’t competing to hold) will be held in Qatar. Which is pretty clearly not a very good choice at all. I mean, its tiny, you are basically going to have Millions of people descending on stadiums all lined up next to one another in the middle of the desert. God knows what the people are Qatar are going to do with all that stadia after the World Cup.
Back to England’s bid, and I’m sure the negative press had an impact on the thing, and I’m fairly sure it could have all been timed to cause less damage, rather than more to to the bid. But at the end of the day, there clearly is a whole bunch of corrupt dealings going on and we shouldn’t turn away from all that.
I’m dissapointed, but hey-ho. There’s a World Cup in Brazil to look forward to.
At the very end of the transfer window, we were lucky enough to pick up a certain Daniel Sturridge on loan. In the three games since joining Bolton, he’s shown why Coyle was interested, scoring in each of them. He’s now scored as many for Bolton as he had in his previous 31 Premiership appearances. He’s already received the plaudits of multiple teammates. As my Bolton Offside coblogger put it, he’s started for us like multiple houses on fire. However this pace is obviously unsustainable, which makes the question: how far will his form drop?

Sturridge has proven he can score goals, quite good ones at that. He also has a good work rate, popping up all over the pitch, which was especially on show against Everton. But even in this good form I’m wary of getting too excited about him. He found himself on his back more often than John Terry’s mistress(es), which was frankly quite embarrassing for the team and the fans. He and new teammate Johan Elmander got in a tiff on the pitch, and while I don’t know who was at fault, it’s unusual for this team to argue on the pitch, and it’s not good that it began when he arrived. He’s only 21 and clearly has a bit of growing up to do. Sturridge does show a lot of promise, I’m certainly not arguing with what he’s done for Bolton so far, but all this talk him being the “future of England” is premature. Three games does not a career make. His goal ratio is phenomenal, but not something he can keep up. His game is good, but there is certainly work to do. He needs to prove his ability for longer than two weeks to earn an England call up. For now, I just hope he keeps doing his thing for Bolton.
walpaper hphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11165856595280727395noreply@blogger.com0
